A little preparation improves the visit
The best aeration appointments begin before the machine reaches the lawn. Clear access, workable soil moisture, and visible obstacles help the operator focus on complete, careful coverage.
Your confirmation should include specific instructions for your lawn and the current forecast. Use this checklist as a starting point rather than a replacement for those directions.
Section 02
One to two days before
Check the soil and remove uncertainty from the work area.
Key points
- Follow the watering guidance in your appointment confirmation. The goal is moist, workable soil rather than hard ground or standing water.
- Mark irrigation heads, shallow lines, invisible dog fences, low-voltage lighting, and any object that should not be crossed.
- Pick up toys, hoses, branches, furniture, and temporary decorations.
- Confirm gate width and unlock the planned access point.
- Let the operator know about steep slopes, soft drainage areas, new sod, or recently repaired sections.
Section 03
What about mowing?
A lawn that is at a reasonable mowing height is easier to inspect and cover. If mowing is needed before service, complete it early enough to avoid scalping or stressing the lawn.
Nashville Aeration Co. does not provide mowing, so arrange any needed cut before the appointment while avoiding a very short or stressful mow.
Section 04
After the cores are pulled
Leave the soil plugs on the lawn. They dry and break apart naturally, returning soil to the surface. Normal appearance returns as weather, mowing, and foot traffic disperse them.
If seeding was added, follow the seed-specific watering and mowing instructions you receive. New seed requires more attentive surface moisture than aeration alone, and success depends on the homeowner portion of the plan after the visit.
